History
At the beginning, Guintabo-an was just a sitio of barangay Juagdan and it is two kilometers away from its mother barangay. Its name was derived from the Visayan word TABUAN which means a meeting place. People from barangays and from nearby islands came to the place with their goods for barter. People from the mainland brought with them their farm products while those from the island brought fish and other sea products. The prefix GUIN was added to the word TABUAN. The barangay from then on is named Guintabo-an.
Barangay residents have learned that the place has gold deposits in the surrounding mountains. They may soon be able to mine gold in their place. The future of the people and the whole barangay could well be assured that Guintaboan may become the melting pot of the municipality of Ubay.
Government
There are seven puroks or units in the barangay manned by the elected kagawads including the Punong Barangay or Barangay chairman.
